Robin on BurgmanUSA had a similar situation. She was out from May to November 2009. There are five pages of posts there on the whole story as it had multiple visits to motorcycle jail. All is well now though, and I hope yours gets out of MJ and comes home to you too.

I think I hold the record for the fatstest breaking CVT Stopper Bolt at 1,400 miles! I may be the only one out there with a 3rd CVT about to be installed on his 650. My story truly should be on BUSA also, but I'm the charter member of the BUSA BANNED!

Has anyone had any dealings with the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB)? I'm going to be getting myself educated about them starting this weekend. I figure if they are unaware of the bolt issue, they might be interested in some stories I have to tell.

I received another call from the service manager today saying that some of the pieces of the CVT were re-engineered. I would have the first new CVT with the changes... something to do with the CVT stopper bolt and a sleeve for it to fit in... I will update when I know more. Supposedly, these are only available in Japan right now. I have been credited back all the money paid during the 2nd trip. This will all but seal my getting my money back for the first CVT issue...

The NTSB isn't a one file deal, but each filing is very important. Short and sweet, and a simple reminder that any catastrophic driveline failure on any two wheeled vehicle puts the operator at great risk for bodily injury or fatality.

Thing is to motivate everyone who's had a CVT failure to file something.
